At Murray Hill Recovery, we believe that opiate dependence is a disease, and that an integrated approach combining pharmacological and psychosocial treatements offers patients the best chance for sustained recovery. Physicians practicing at Murray Hill Recovery use a variety of treatment methods for opiate dependence, and our experienced staff assist each patient in the developing a Continuing Care program to meet their individual recovery goals.

Pharmacological Treatment for Opiate Dependence
Murray Hill Recovery offers patients dependent on opiates individualized pharmacological treatments, which may include SUBOXONE®, a partial opiate agonist that is effective at reducing opiate withdrawal symptoms and reducing cravings. In addition to helping relieve the uncomfortable side effects of opiate cessation, we work to help patients deal with the troubling psychological side of opiate cravings. Like all other addiction treatments, pharmacological treatments need to be supported by psychological and social changes.

  • If a Murray Hill physician has determined that a patient is a candidate for SUBOXONE, his or her first day of treatment at Murray Hill Recovery typically consists of an initial assessment, including a comprehensive medical examination by the staff physician.
  • In the Induction Phase, patients receive the initial doses of SUBOXONE. This is closely managed by a Murray Hill Recovery physician. The Induction Phase typically lasts 48-72 hours. Over time, patients may receive lower doses of SUBOXONE. Following the Induction Phase patients may self-administer the medication at home. This pharmacological intervention can last from a few weeks to several months, depending on the severity of dependence and individual patient need and comfort. An individualized psychosocial treatment plan, including a nutritional consultation and recommendations, is developed and implemented for each patient.
  • An essential part of the Murray Hill Recovery treatment plan involves developing a comprehensive Continuing Care plan. Our clinical team will work with you to find the plan that is best for you.
