Alcohol and drug dependence is a complex medical disease, and Continuing Care plays a critical role in long-term recovery. In order to achieve the best outcomes, treatment should address the numerous aspects of this disease; including physiological, psychological, genetic, nutritional, spiritual and social. The integration of all of these components in a continuing care treatment plan is necessary.

  • Murray Hill Recovery offers treatments individualized by physicians to work in conjunction with traditional psychological and behavioral programs
  • No specific psychosocial treatment modality fits all patients. We believe that when clients fully understand the options available, they are more likely to select a therapy that they can truly commit to - tailored to their unique personality and needs.
  •  We work actively with licensed physicians, therapists, counselors and established recovery programs, referring patients to appropriate continuing care programs in their community.
  • Depending upon personal preferences and available resources, continuing care may take several forms including (but not limited to):
    • Self-help groups such as Alcoholics Anonymous / other similar 12-step programs
    •  Individual and/or group counseling
    •  Sober living environments
    •  Residential treatment centers (for more structured support.)

A Good Family Support System
Murray Hill’s treatment philosophy reflects the belief that successful outcomes require the education and involvement of the family system as a whole. Equally important in this philosophy is a patient’s continued involvement in ongoing care.

Intensive Outpatient Programs
The staff at Murray Hill Recovery goes above and beyond to ensure that each client has intensive follow-up care, both during and after their initial treatment. These continuing care services at Murray Hill Recovery are provided in accordance with highest clinical standards. Primary modalities of treatment include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

Intensive Outpatient Program groups are held Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings from 6-8 p.m. The groups address and offer education on chemical dependency and the recovery process including mental health issues.

The Matrix Program®
Murray Hill Recovery utilizes the Matrix Program® curriculum for their substance abuse Outpatient Program. The Matrix Program content incorporates CBT, psycho-educational training, and orientation to the 12-Step process. Each session includes client participation and discussion. Homework is assigned and each client is expected to complete the assignments prior to the next meeting.

Group sessions are limited to a maximum of staff to patient ratio of 8:1. The length of stay in the Outpatient Program is based on each individual’s progress and recovery needs. The Saturday group serves as aftercare for clients who successfully complete the Outpatient Program.
